Kara Lyn Winslow

Miss. Kara is a passionate and dedicated dance instructor, performer and choreographer. Throughout her youth she trained in many different dance styles. With a growing a warmth for ballet, Kara decided to train more seriously in her technique and auditioned for the company with Saratoga City Ballet where her abilities were transformed each year as she trained and performed. As she advanced, new opportunities presented and she began to train in modern dance and contemporary dance styles. While working with professional guest choreographers, Kara immediately fell for the creative nature of modern dance and the free-flowing form. The summer of her junior year of high school, an inspirational opportunity arose for Kara to participate with Garth Fagan Dance. She partook in modern dance classes with the dancers of the company and watched the company perform at SPAC. Drawing from this inspiration, Kara chose to further modern dance training in college.
Kara furthered her studies and dance training at SUNY Potsdam, focusing on modern dance, ballet and choreography while minoring in business. Kara later completed her business degree at SUNY Adirondack where she discovered another movement arts form to adore, Thai Chi. With grace she spent two semesters as an assistant teacher of Thai Chi.
Kara began instructing dance in 2008, discovering the rewards of sharing her dance passions and techniques while exploring her creativity as a choreographer. Over the years, she has choreographed and instructed classical ballet and pointe as well as modern, contemporary, musical theater, tap and jazz styles. In 2017, Kara began instructing classical ballet technique for Adirondack Repertory Dance Theater choreographing both spring and winter performances.
Musical theater choreography became a major part of her life in 2016 as Kara choreographed her first full length production of The Lion King Jr. directed by Mickey Luce and Erin Dove for the Saint Mary’s Saint Alphonsus (SMSA) players. Kara continued to choreograph for the SMSA Players and the SMSA drama club where she choreographed productions of Once On This Island Jr, The Sound of Music and Into The Woods Jr.
